Damage without frenzy then with frenzy against a nongood target.

Damage with frenzy and then without against a good target (should get bonuses for that in damage).

Damage non frenzy and then frenzy with fiery dagger against goblins. The fiery dagger, a 1 handed weapon, does more damage than the halberd, despite halberd being only 1 less average and SHOULD be getting double enhanced damage from two handed. A one handed weapon is beating a two handed weapon in damage. Results wern't adding up because of this. I can bet you If I could hold the bugbear halberd my damage would've been much better.

Something is gimping the damage. you will note the 26 damroll from an incomplete eq set. pure red dragon and claw rings and teeth necks.

    wow, how much of a moron are you, you really think this prooves anything? That hmm the non good is sanced, the lady ranger is a leveling mob, and the goblins are wayyyy lower lvl, now lets compile all that information and we get.... NOTHING except a good laugh at your expense, good job man. I cant seem to emphasize two things clearly enough to get through your 5 year old brain, that 1) this log board doesnt get anything changed, it probably does the exact opposite and is seen as flame bait. 2) the game is not balanced at lvl 10 or lvl 35, or even lvl 45, the game is set to be balanced at lvl 50, meaning any argument 49 and before is fucking moot man, lvl up to 50, and than start logging, thousands and thousands of rounds of fighting compile and than post it on the forums and maybe just maybe someone will look at it, but probably not, because you started here first and everyone has now seen you as a flamer

    To my knowledge, unholy strength does not increase damage against good-aligned characters. I believe that it makes protection moot, but that may or may not be the as helpfiles are extremely unreliable.

    UNHOLY STRENGTH
    Syntax: cast 'unholy strength'

    Before the rise of guilds in Thera, the Eternal Army ruled the lands by
    combining rigorous physical and magical training with a strong central
    leadership that drew from the combined powers of all its members. The
    unholy strength spell is a vestige of that era, before the coming of
    Light shattered the army. It allows dark-knights to draw from their own
    life-force to strengthen themselves physically for a short time. A mana
    upkeep is required to sustain this state of heightened power.

    Casting unholy strength when one is already under its affect increases
    the power of the spell. However, this will also increase its upkeep.
    The spell's physical limit is determined by the level of the caster.
    One can also amplify the effect of the spell to make it last longer,
    but the upkeep will be correspondingly increased as well.

    During a bout of unholy strength, a dark-knight can also use the spell
    to send himself into a frenzy. This can only be used while affected
    by unholy strength.

    At the end of the unholy strength, or when the dark-knight cannot
    support its upkeep, the caster will feel drained from the effects
    of the spell. Note that it is much more dangerous to enter this state
    from failing the upkeep than when the spell expires naturally.

    UNHOLY STRENGTH WILL MULTIPLY WEAPON DAMAGE AGAINST ALL OPPONENTS.

    As the epitome of the Light, paladins and healers drew the most bitter
    hatred from the Dark Army, and its unholy strength spell empowers
    dark-knights with even more power against these sworn foes.


    I dont normally do this, but if you're too brain dead to even read the help file correctly, you have no business trying to prove that there is something wrong with a class that in all probability you know nothing about, despite having had several.
    You can claim that you just KNOW how to play the class and act knowledgeable by posting meaningless logs, but if you're going to try to prove something, dont bitch and whine about it at a community log board.

    gilrad, I believe that actually means the damroll effect of unholy strength.

    ergorion, you're thinking of the paladin skill that increases damage equal to the amount of damage the protection spell reduces. I have been under the impression that unholy has been meant to really charge you up against goods first, and then provide damroll as a multiplier of damage against everyone second.

    Unholy strength got changed so that if you don't amplify or frenzy you don't get drained.

    Kapruski, I know there's divine might which annuls protection. I'm not positive that unholy strength does the same, but I remember when the IRC community was chatting about how dks need tweaking, unholy strength came up and a decent amount of veterans believed that it annuls protection as well.

    I did it to show that the damage barely budges at all for what is the GIMMICK, the ONLY THING, this class has.

    It cant compete on equal terms and the class is balanced around UNHOLY and AFFSPAM. So it CANNOT compete without these thing and then using them leads to negligible to ZERO benefit but then losing PARRY? horseshit.

    Now you turdlings that say a game is balanced at 50 and isnt balanced at lower levels. why does invoker not get parry and shield block at level 10 then? They'd be imbalanced and would rape faces with 2 defenses and lightning bolts and weapon ward.

    So you want it balanced at 50? good. Im glad all those level 50 dark knights are tearing it up right now showing they're good. Wait nvm there hasn't been a successful dark knight in years.

    Also dont bring up dark knight justices. special guards rape face already. a retard can make some cabal camp kills in justice.

    Ok so you guys say game isnt balanced. They changed things so you cant wear your level 50 uniques at 25 and rape everyone left andright.

    Damage of spells scales with levels.

    it seems to me they DO want balance at all levels and they try to accomplish that while keeping the balance at 50 where they want it.

    So why can a class do MANGLE through sanc every 1.5 rounds with an added lag skill when lag skills were removed from necro/ill charms because they think auto lag skills are bad things to have? Why isn't the damage of ninjas scaled so that it has caps at particular levels.

    Anyway, to everyone else. I've been playing this game for about ten years now and I don't talk to anyone over IRC. I barely post anything on the forums at all and seeing stupid shit like this Jluppy character spout random nonsense just made me want to say something. I realize that some of the help files are inaccurate but I saw no change posted on the OFFICIAL ABANDONED REALMS SITE. a bunch of 'Veterans' that agree about something on an UNOFFICIAL chat program without proof is flimsy evidence that a certain skill/spell is not working properly. Maybe the Emissaries and Imms have something cooked up on their private forum branch that the public doesn't know about and in all likelihood will not know about for a good long time, and the truth is that if you're not part of their 'group' you will NEVER get to know what they know about where this game is headed, mechanically speaking that is. Instead of bitching about the game not being balanced at a level that is not 50, try to suck it up and just enjoy playing the game with your favorite race/class combo and do what you like, if it is within the game rules, that is.

    If dark knights arent supposed to worry over weapon advantage and combat advantage then this sounds okay. If dark knights MUST play the weapon and combat advantage game to keep from being destroyed then then his advice is bad.

    warrior wields advantage weapon and dual wield. hobble + overcome parries. there goes your defenses. even the people that make dark knight and say they are happy with how they currently are give out bad advice.

    What are you smoking? Have you even played a dark-knight?

    You do this:
    c 'unholy strength'
    c 'unholy strength'
    c 'unholy strength'


    They stack. As you get closer to 50, you can stack more. When I had a pinnacled dark-knight, I think I could stack it five or six times to get +5/+6 WITHOUT frenzy. Frenzy at 50 adds another +8/+8, I think.

    So, overall unholy strength can grant you, ballpark, +13/+14?? That's not peanuts. On the flip side, fire warriors get +7/+10 from warcry and berserk.

    jluppy, i'm talking about they can do it as soon as they get it at level 25. when you're at level 30 you should get at least three casts of the base level. Don't amplify, that just increases the duration. You literally just cast unholy strength over and over.

    ALSO, if everyone here is stating that the game is NOT balanced below 50 and deal with it...

    Why is there also combo cost disadvantages?
    Why is there also skills and spells that you only get at certain ranks in the life of a character?

    Clearly because these are forms of balancing. And yet we can see that ninja vs DK is so assfucking one sided. Is the problem that DKs are underpowered at low levels or that ninjas are overpowered at low levels?

    If one or the other, it can be fixed by changing skills, changing the damage output of autolag skills like uncanny, etc, or changing the cost of these two combos to reflect their ninja OP vs their DK UP.

    Now, hybrids are absolutely wasted by lag skills. They have mage level health, they have cleric level defenses AT BEST, and they have no weapon ward, so they MUST play the switching weapons game WHILE ALSO playing the spam aff game. don't believe dks are aff spammers? Thats what davars have repeatedly said he wants from them.

    Just like paladin, dk suffer bad from getting lagged. they cant cast spells, they can't switch styles, and their two defenses and lack of protective shield, weapon ward, and other defense spells means they are very vulnerable to all the auto-abilities ninjas get for spamming one or two of their weapon skills.

    I Really like how you guys are all ignoring the blindingly obvious because it upsets your little egocentric world that you actually have skill, when we know its simply because the ninja class is bullshit and dk being gimp doesn't make it much better.
