submitting ID's to invokation

It has happened a couple of times now that I submit IDs for items into invokation's database for approval, and the items never get published. I'm 100% sure the items weren't already published previously, because I check for that before submitting news ones.

So I'm wondering why it is that from time to time submitted items don't get published?

Thanks,
Iolo

Items must be approved by an admin so that junk doesn't clutter up the database.

junk as in duplicates or junk as in fake items?

    Both.

If they are using mysql for the ID's then they are newbs. You can check for duplicates..

This suggests that the game imms are also invokation.net admins, something I didn't know. Cool.

Still doesn't explain why my submission for the Mistress' green shirt never made it in. Oh well, I'll try it again.

As far as I know, no imms are admins here.

When I log in it says I have "moderator rights", but the only thing I've seen that I'm allowed to do is approve item id's (which I did for iolo on that ring after this thread started, btw).

admins are myself, marsd, mendek ... and 3 more who haven't logged on in a long time. so, admins are in effect non-existent.

in fact, the way the invokation ids are stored is very archaic and unsophisticated. on the other hand, it hasn't really ever bothered anyone, and the information can be extracted so no work has been done to rework it.

Didn't my brother make the the log board and id section? or am I mistaken?

So it sounds like the main reason a submission wouldn't show up is because an "ID Approver" hasn't logged in yet to approve it. Slackers.

    Well, yeah, basically.

But if you're the one who id'ed it, you shouldn't need it again. If you do, just make your own webpage with mysql database and keep record of 'em all...

According to everybody here it shouldn't be that hard to do. >.>

Yeah. Pretty sure bucky did. The biggest issue is the costs involved in hosting and the lack of revenue. Luckily, Zeth still continues to donate the webspace that AR uses.

Also, there's a lot of people who are moderators that are able to process and approve IDs. I forget if they're able to edit them though.

it sounds like what you want is to approve edits not id's

We're able to edit... at least, I am.

    I log-in regularly... >.<

Pretty sure we have enough moderators that can approve.

Invokation admins are not AR immortals whatsoever and hold no administrative influence in AR... The admins only help to ensure the site doesn't fuck up.
